Speak now...

"Real life is a really funny thing you know? In real life, saying the right thing at the right moment is beyond crucial. So crucial, in fact, that most of us start to hesitate, for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But lately what I've begun to fear more than that is letting the moment pass without saying anything. Words can break someone into a million pieces, but they can also put them back together. I hope you use your words for good, because the only words you'll regret more than the ones left unsaid are the ones you use to intentionally hurt someone.

What you say might be too much for some people. Maybe it will come out all wrong and you'll stutter and you'll walk away embarrassed, wincing as you play it all back in your head. But I think the words you stop yourself from saying are the ones that will haunt you the longest. So say it to them. Or say it to yourself in the mirror. Say it in a letter you'll never send or in a book millions might read someday. I think you deserve to look back on your life without a chorus of resounding voices saying "I could've, but its too late now." There is a time for silence. There is a time waiting your turn. But if you know how you feel, and you so clearly know what you need to say, you'll know it" -T.Swift

This is what I have been talking about with everyone close to me lately. Not waiting too late, not thinking "oh well tomorrow...". Even after experiencing everything I've had to go through in the past 10 years even, I've learned you can't hold it in. I normally don't have a problem saying what I'm thinking, but when it came to relationships and the "ones that got away", I got tired of that list starting to grow. The past 6 months has been the end of that. The couple of people I had feelings for over the past years I got in touch with and put it all out there just to say it. Even if it was something to the effect of "I knew I felt something but I didn't know what it was..." or "why didn't we just take a chance and jump the cliff?" I got tired of wondering why, what could've been. It's funny because sometimes we build something up in our heads so much that when we actually do address it the feelings usually leave because we know it's taken care of. Either that or it works out and you end up being the happiest you've ever been.

People always assume how someone else feels. They think they know because of one or two little "things" that happened. But you don't. I was standing on a porch recently with a friend of mine and she just asked "so how are you feeling about leaving?". The truth is, yes its only for a few months...but those few months are going to reveal the next step of my life. I love living in Nashville, but I could end up traveling the next 2 years because of work. So I celebrated now not just my going away but the "what's next..". I won't know what it brings until I get there...but in the end I don't want to miss out on someone because the "it's not how i wanted to do it". Guess what...perfect moments are perfect because of who you spend them with.

You won't know whats next until you ask. Sometimes it ends up the way you had hoped and sometimes it doesn't, but in the end at least you don't have to wonder "what if" and that's worth so much more than you'll ever know.

So remember...
